The La Crosse Technology EA-3010U Handheld Anemometer broke as soon as I took it out of the box. A blade came off the rotor and the magnetic wheel shattered, rendering the thing useless before I'd taken a single reading. Truly a piece of junk.

I did not look at the dimensions close enough, the unit is small. I was able to do the job with the instrument and the numbers seemed correct. I am satisfied with the purchase.

This was something my wife mentioned she would like to have because of where we live... it is forever windy here and she thought it would be handy, and it is. Easy to use right out of the box.

As a trained advanced weather spotter, it was recommended that I get an anemometer. This unit is easy to use but I haven't had to use it to measure severe weather conditions. I'm not crazy about button cell batteries, but that is he trade-off to keep the unit small and light. Fortunately, it does use a common CR2032 3V battery.

Great little weather station for the home. Easy setup, no problems receiving data through a brick wall. Viewing weather history a little trouble, you have to go through the menu instead of being able to use the history button and scrolling. Other than that I would buy another one today if this one breaks.

I just received the station yesterday and have completed most of the checkout before I install it on the roof. It is what you payed for. I did not what to spend a lot of money so after consideration of many stations I chose this station. I noticed that most of the sensors for stations in this price range were the same type, maybe some variation in the electronics, but structurally similar. From what I read in reviews you can expect the sensors to last between one and two years. There is some maintenance required. I believe that the phone style connector contacts will need cleaning each year, and I would first suspect the connectors if a sensor stops working. You should put bird spikes on the rain and solar shield to help keep then clean and to avoid any possible damage from birds. Also, do not expect the sensors to handle very bad weather. If winds get above 70 mph I would not be surprised to lose a sensor or two. I did notice that no makers seem to list weather limits. The wind sensor will monitor high winds, just may not survive the winds. Everything work out of the box. Spent some time reading manual so that I knew what it was capable of and what the limitations were. This was nice in that everything needed except mounting pole was included, even PC cable and software. Would I recommend it to a friend, yes. Just would warn them that it is like any low cost device, it may not have the long life someone would want, but it did not cost $1,500 dollars or more. I like knowing the local conditions around my house, but not going to pay a lot. I did not give it five stars simply because the device is similar to other devices and the maker has had mixed reviews on other models; however, it seemed to me that all maker's got mixed reviews so it must be the entry level of these products, so nothing stands out with this product from others. I pick this model because of features (similar to other models), it was a new model so parts may be easier to obtain, and finally price.

Purchased for measuring the face velocity of laboratory fume hoods. The minimum airspeed of 80 f/m seems true. Measuring the temperature of the air at the same time has helped me win arguments with an HVAC tech that did not want to repair a faulty room air conditioner. Just because an infrared "touchless" thermometer says the coils are cold enough, I doesn't mean there is enough airflow to make it matter!

I bought this to balance the A/C ducts in my home. I was quite surprised at how bad the system was designed with small rooms receiving high CFM's and large rooms with very little. This tool does a nice job in calculating the CFM based on the measured duct opening. It reads the airspeed then uses the duct dimensions to display CFM. As a bonus the thing does IR temperature readings as well but my primary application was CFM measurement and this it does well. Easy to use with big bright display that is backlighted at the touch of a button. Great tool at a decent price compared to others on the market. It came with a very nice case that also holds the instruction book.

I bought this unit for use as a portable thermometer and dew point meter with reasonable accuracy. I is self contained, reasonably accurate, and measures temperature, dew point, relative, humidity, wet bulb temperature, and wind/air speed. I heartily reccomend it for anyone that needs a quick, simple method for measuring any on the above.

This is the product I chose for a quick-and-dirty checkout of a house duct system. It is more accurate than an IR thermometer and provides the air flow data to determine if there is a duct problem. I am pleased with the product and hope that it lasts quite awhile.

The instruction "page" is difficult to figure out exactly how to use this device. After trial and error, it is working as described. I'm not happy with the slow response to wind changes but I guess I don't need to know the wind chaging from 3mph to 3.5mph as fast as I thought.

This thermo-anemometer gave surprisingly accurate relative humidity readings. However, it's impossible to get it to provide temperature readings as well. Additionally, the 'slide-in-slide-out' feature leaves some pretty nasty scratches on the unit during field use.

The 45118 is a handheld aenemometer that is lightweight and easy to use. It weighs ounces and flips out to extend as seen in the picture. It requires two hands to extend. The display is adequate, however I have a couple of concerns. First, it is not backlit. This can be very frustrating, but the LCD's show up nicely under outside illumination. Second, the temperature display is markedly smaller than the windspeed and there is no way to alternate or change this. The Extech functions fine. It gives an almost immediate readout on both windspeed and ambient temp. Although it attempts to change second-by-second, often there is what seems to be a slight compensatory lag. All in all, it is a fine tool.
