La Crosse Technology EA-3010U Handheld AnemometerReviewsI received the product with a 16 year old battery, after replacing the battery the unit still didn't work. I had to send it back to the factory for a replacement, all of whick took an additional three weeks from the time I received the first anemometer. Works fine now, but what a hassele. When I received my La Crosse EA-3010U anemometer everything worked fine for a few minutes, then it stopped giving me wind readings. The temperature was showing on the display, but the wind was not. I had read other reviews mentioning their battery was dead, so I called La Crosse customer service and they told me to replace the battery. When I put a new battery in the unit, it worked fine for a few hrs, then it stopped registering wind speed. I put the original battery back in the unit and it worked fine for just a few minutes, then same problem. At this point I lost faith in the quality of this unit and felt it was better to get a Kestrel Anemometer as a replacement. While I did have the La Crosse unit a few days, I did notice that it takes a long time to get the correct temperature when taking it outdoors from the indoors. It seems that you get what you pay for when it comes to anemometers. I have not received my Kestrel anemometer yet so I have no comment on it. If you need a meter to measure wind speed, this device will do that very well. The wind speed measurements were accurate. If you are interested in temperature or wind chill, you will have to stand outside so long that you will know the values before the instrument tells you. It took about 45 minutes for it to go from room temperature, 70 degrees, to the outside temperature, 45 degrees. It is a good value for measuring wind speed, but you will chill before you get it to measure wind chill. Very disappointed as item received with leaking lithium battery! My trust in Amazon, LLC, the seller, is greatly reduced. It's easy to use,the numbers are cleared to read. I love the bright yellow color and specially the size of this item can easily take with you anywhere. Average Rating:![]() |

Davis 07717 Mounting PolesReviewsDavis mounting poles were easy to install with the hardware provided. By easy I mean that even without instructions it was obvious what steps to take. The quality of the hardware was high compared to other kits where the torque I applied during installation bent a piece. The total length of pole available gave me several options for location. I had enough length and hardware to make it stable but elevated enough off the corner of an upper level deck to ensure open space around the station and sufficient height off the ground. ProWeatherStation Wireless Data Logging Weather StationReviewsI've had my ProWeatherStation for over a month now. It comes in a very well designed box with everything needed to get the station up and running, except five AA size batteries. The assembly/setup and software installation was straight forward following the enclosed instructions. The [...] web site has the instructions and data sheet available for on line viewing (select - product - then "quick install guide" or "data sheet" I feel the build quality of the station is very good. I did have a problem with the station I received (it would randomly drop some outside sensor data) . Dealing with Tycon Power's (seller) costumer service/tech support was a very positive experiance, all done via E mail. It appeared that they (cs/ts) didn't have any other problems to resolve but mine. Cumulus (donationware) from [...] can be used with the ProWeatherStation if you want to upload your data to the internet. (the included software does not have the internet feature) A quality product with outstanding support at a good price. ProWeatherStation Wireless Data Logging Weather Station Average Rating:![]() |

Extech 45158 Mini Waterproof Thermo Anemometer and Humidity MeterReviewsThis is the product I chose for a quick-and-dirty checkout of a house duct system. It is more accurate than an IR thermometer and provides the air flow data to determine if there is a duct problem. I am pleased with the product and hope that it lasts quite awhile. The instruction "page" is difficult to figure out exactly how to use this device. After trial and error, it is working as described. I'm not happy with the slow response to wind changes but I guess I don't need to know the wind chaging from 3mph to 3.5mph as fast as I thought. This thermo-anemometer gave surprisingly accurate relative humidity readings. However, it's impossible to get it to provide temperature readings as well. Additionally, the 'slide-in-slide-out' feature leaves some pretty nasty scratches on the unit during field use. Average Rating:![]() |

Honeywell TS805 Remote Anemometer for Professional Weather Station TE923W (White)ReviewsIt looks like it would work ok but I am missing the remote so nothing works. Completely unsatisfactory. Patricia Boulange Easy to install if you have a extendable pole.. Be careful when changing batteries to not lose the "tiny" screws..A hinged access door for battery compartment would be nice.. Windtronic Wind Speed Meter AnemometerReviewsoverall good wind meter... but.... 'plastiky' (unsure how it would hold up to an accidental drop) excellent for kiteboarding or taking a traction kite out safely on the beach. I keep it in the car & use it like every weekend. (though if it's 20 knots you'll know it even without a meter) Uses cups, not propeller, so you don't have to point it toward the wind. Just stick out & read. I like knowing actual wind speed (not just what web/ weather sites tell you). Pricey. Has only basic functions (wind display in km, knots, mph, buf scale) max wind, current wind speed. (no temp) (not sure if a person needs more?) Uses a large button lithium battery. But back battery compartment does not line up with large access hole & need to use mini screwdriver too. & no obvious way to open the unit to bypass this issue. For occasional / casual user I'd buy a cheaper unit w/ easier battery access.. or just the old fashioned plastic tube w/ ball (cheapest). Hope it helps. Average Rating:![]() |

Oregon Scientific WGR968 Wireless AnemometerReviewsI found what I was looking for on Amazon.com, however there no instruction with the item which would be useful As others have pointed out: This anemometer IS NOT A STAND-ALONE DEVICE. IT IS PART OF A LARGER WEATHER STATION, THE WGR-968. If you purchase this anemometer thinking it will tell you the wind speed and direction, IT WILL NOT. You must have the entire WGR-968 WIRELESS weather station, which consists of: (1) a console that sits inside your home, plugs into the wall (or uses batteries). This console receives data from any number of sensors and displays that data on a screen. (2) Sensors including: -- an indoor temperature/humidity sensor; this is a separate item. -- an outdoor temperature/humidity sensor; this is a separate item. -- an outdoor rain gauge; this is a separate item. -- this anemometer. To view the entire system, do a Google search for "WGR-968 Wireless Weather Station" and you'll see what I mean. Now, having said that. I have owned the WGR-968 Wireless Weather Station for four years and am very pleased with it. The console has a serial port that can be attached to a computer (sorry, no USB port) then, with free software (Free WxWi), you can upload your weather date to [...] where you and the rest of the world can see your weather data displayed along with the weather data from thousands of other home weather stations. The only problem I have had with my WGR-968 is the anemometer. It seems to wear out every year or so -- I am now on my third one. After about 12 - 14 months, it simply stops sending data. I have tried replacing batteries, resetting, etc., etc., etc. Nothing works except replacing the device. All other components of the WGR-968 work fine and have not failed in four years. I like the weather station. Very helpful. Just annoyed that the wind meter died after 2 years the anemometer is nice ,but they don't tell you that you have to buy additional equipment to be able to take advantage of the wirless feature. It's of little value if you have to climb a pole to read the wind speed! The also don't tell you about the 20 % restocking fee if you return it untill you try to send it back. Note, that I have not used the product yet. These are just -out-of-the-box impressions. The description states that it is "Compatible with Oregon Scientific's wireless weather station". However, be warned that you MUST own that unit. The WGR968 is ONLY a transmitter and completely worthless unless you have the weather station. Also, (sarcasm warning) could they have printed the manual using a SMALLER type style? It is printed in english, french, spanish, german, but only for people with VERY good eye sight. Elenco Electronics Discovery Planet Weather StationReviewsWe were disappointed with this product. Your home thermometer will have as many features as this. The rain gauge is just a little cup, it's not nearly as nice as the ones at the dollar store. It can tell you temp & humidity, but the wind speed is not even close to being right. My son was excited to take it out on a very windy day, the tv said gusts up to 40 mph and this registered them as 6 mph. bummer. Average Rating:![]() |
